The “Tres Tombs” of Alella is an annual traditional festival held in honor of Saint Anthony Abbot, the patron saint of animals. This event celebrates the historical significance of animals, particularly horses, in agricultural and transport activities.

Event Highlights:

  • Esmorzar de Traginers (Teamsters’ Breakfast): Starting in the morning, participants and attendees gather at the Riera Principal to enjoy a traditional breakfast, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie.
  • Pony Rides for Children: Between 10:00 and 12:00, children have the opportunity to enjoy free pony rides, introducing them to equestrian traditions in a fun and engaging way.
  • Exhibitions: Members of the Fundació Cavall de Troya showcase horse training demonstrations, including activities like carousel performances, vaulting, and natural horsemanship, highlighting the skills and bonds between horses and trainers.
  • Procession and Blessing of Animals: Around midday, a procession of horses, carriages, and other animals parades through the streets of Alella, traditionally circling three times (“tres tombs”) near the church.
