Barcelona-Mataró, 1848. The Maresme Train

In 1848, the Barcelona-Mataró railway line, the first train on the Iberian Peninsula, came into operation. Today, 175 years later, the Mataró Museum and the Maresme Regional Archive join in the commemoration  with two exhibitions focused on making known what Mataró was like in the mid-19th century and what the impact of the arrival of the railway in the city, as well as offering a panoramic view of the 175 years of railway history in the Maresme region.
