The Hughes Language Service

The Hughes Language Service in Vilsassar de Mar has been teaching English and other languages for over 35 years. Situated in the centre of the town, it offers English language courses for young learners from the age of five, as well as for teenagers and adults. Following many years of collaboration with the local council’s social services department, it now provides specialised courses for seniors and retired people.

The school prides itself on a highly qualified staff of native teachers with extensive experience. Lessons are conducted entirely in English, using a communicative and engaging approach designed to build confidence in all areas of the language. As well as standard courses aimed at improving overall language competence, the Hughes Language Service offers a wide range of Cambridge exam preparation courses, including those for the First Certificate, Advanced, and young learner exams such as Starters, Movers and Flyers, KET and PET.

It is also one of the few schools in the area that provides preparation for the C2 Proficiency exam. The school also has experience in preparing students for other international qualifications, including the Cambridge IELTS and the TOEFL. Year after year, students achieve consistently strong results, reflecting the high standard of teaching provided.

The Hughes Language Service also offers conversation groups and tailor-made one-to-one private lessons to suit individual client needs. Additionally, a variety of study programmes are available for those interested in studying abroad.

Whatever the course, the school provides a welcoming and supportive environment in which students can feel comfortable learning.
