The British School of Barcelona

Now Coming to Maresme
For over 65 years, The British School of Barcelona (BSB) has been a benchmark for international education, with thriving campuses in Barcelona city, Castelldefels and Sitges. From September 2026, BSB will bring this proven model of excellence to the Maresme region with the opening of its newest campus in Cabrera de Mar: BSB Maresme.

A Proven Track Record of Excellence
Recognised as “Outstanding in Every Category” by the UK Department for Education—the highest possible distinction—BSB is the only school in Barcelona to hold this accreditation. The school combines academic rigour with a holistic approach that develops creativity, leadership, critical thinking, collaboration, and public speaking skills.

At Pre-University, students follow the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB), recognised internationally and in Spain, or A Levels in Castelldefels. Year after year, BSB students achieve results well above national and global averages, securing places at leading universities across the UK (including the Russell Group), the US, the Netherlands, Spain and beyond.

The school also holds the Wellbeing Award for Schools, underlining its commitment to mental health and personal development.

BSB Maresme
Opening in September 2026, the BSB Maresme campus will welcome children aged 3–11, expanding to Secondary from 2027, and eventually accommodating up to 700 students. Set on a stunning 16,500 m² site with sea views, the campus is thoughtfully designed to inspire learning and support every child’s wellbeing. Facilities will include bright, modern classrooms and specialist science labs for hands-on exploration, fully equipped music and art studios (including 1:1 music tuition), and social and study spaces tailored to different age groups. Children will also enjoy dedicated play areas, a covered gym with seating for assemblies and school events, and a 14,000 m² outdoor sports pitch with spectator stands.

An on-site kitchen will prepare fresh meals daily, while up-to-date technological infrastructure will ensure teaching and learning are at the forefront of innovation. Sustainability is at the heart of the project, with structural wood for low environmental impact, a green rooftop with rainwater harvesting, 80 solar panels generating clean energy, and advanced acoustic, thermal and lighting systems designed for comfort and efficiency. With its outstanding teaching, international ethos and inspiring new facilities, BSB Maresme will offer families a world-class education within a warm, thriving community.

This project represents an important step forward for BSB, highlighting both the strength and the continued growth of our community. BSB Maresme will build on our well-established and highly successful educational model, which is focused on ensuring that our students have a positive learning experience, genuinely enjoy their education, achieve excellent academic results, develop the qualities and attributes they will need to thrive in life, and become global citizens.
