Activities in Maresme
Maresme is a mecca for lovers of outdoor activities, thanks to its 20,000 protected hectares of forest. The region offers something for everyone – from water sports and hiking to wine trails and golf – whatever your fitness level. The long promenades linking the 16 coastal towns means that cycling, walking and running are always popular and of course, the Mediterranean is ideal for swimming all year round.
Sport in Maresme
Maresme offers dozens of padel clubs such as the UP Padel Club which offers outdoor and indoor courts in Cabrera de Mar and Argentona and several renowned tennis clubs such as Club Tenis Mataró. For lovers of golf, prestigious courses include those in Vallromanes and Llavaneres. The 52km coast is lined with harbours and watersports clubs such as Port Balís in Llavaneres and the Club Nautico in El Masnou which offer everything from sailing courses to Stand Up Paddle. There are also athletics clubs such as the Centre Atlètic Laietània in Mataró, basketball clubs like Basquèt Cabrils and a rugby club in Alella.
Wine Tasting in Maresme
In recent years there has been growing interest in Catalonia’s smallest Denominación de Origen (D.O.) in Alella. This area is renowned for producing crisp and refreshing white wines and cavas thanks to the local Pansa Blanca grape (or Xarel-lo), which thrives due to the meeting of land and sea. The annual wine festival in Alella showcases some of the region’s best wines and cavas including wines from Alta Alella, Marfil, Bouquet d’Alella and Parxet.

Maresme’s exceptional geographical locations means that there are hundreds of kids activities outdoors such as the Jalpi adventure park in Arenys de Munt, paintballing in Dosrius, kayaking in Premia de Mar, Illa Fantasia Waterpark in Premia de Mar and karting in Cardedeu. There’s also a plethora of indoor activities to choose from such as Jumping Extreme in Mataró.
